Mysterious duckweed

I haven't added anything to my tank in 6 months, and today during a wc I noticed like maybe a dozen little duckweeds...where did they come from lol I've never had duckweed before. Not a problem, but now I can't guarantee my plants to be duckweed free

duckweed has the ability to materialize out of nowhere
the same thing has happened to me before in many tanks

have you got duckweed in any ponds or tanks?
spores might have floated across from another tank or pond.
or a family member might have added it as a surprise

We have duckweed in our pond in the woods at my other house, but I dont think it could have come here from there?

Oh since you do DWL, got any tips for shedding roots? My roots reach up to 16 inches and shed like crazy its annoying
