i woke up this morning and went to feed the fishes and my oscar is dead. my water parameters are all good; pH is 6.7, water temp is 80, nitrite is 0, nitrate s 20 ppm, hardness is 120, alkalinity is 80, and ammonia is 0. i have no idea what went wrong.

sorry for your loss

was he exhibitng any symptoms in the last few days? did you check the body over, any signs of illness or fighting or anything like that?

well it doesn't look like an aggression issue due to the small size of your stocking. Though if they all decided they didn't like the o anymore, they would def be able to pester it enough and stress it to cause serious illness. As Miss wiggle said, did the body show any signs of illness? Did you watch to see that everyone was eating during feeding? Have you noticed the rd, jd and cons becoming more aggressive as of late?

when i netted him out of the tank there were no signs of fighting, besides the on spot on his neck from where daddy convict was defending his babies. But he has been acting normal, eating just fine, swimming everywhere.

the convicts have been aggressive, but only the daddy convict and he is only aggressive when someone comes near his babies. the red devil is still not aggressive, though i expect him to become fairly aggressive as he grows. the jack demspey is not aggressive, he is actually the most friendly fish in the tank. him and the oscar both used to swim around my hand during feeding time, he is also still small.
