Hi there.
I have read the pinned topic on treating ich, which recommends using protozin to treat for it. I asked the LFS and was told that Myzxin was the best for the job, which is what I have been using. I have the temp at 28 deg, have gone through the treatment of 5ml per day for 5 days (150L tank) but the symptoms persist. Should I just begin the treatment again after doing a big water change, or should I switch to protozin? I would use some salt, but I have loaches in the tank and it was recommended in the pinned article that salt should not be added in the presence of loaches.
Any help or advice you can provide would be very much appreciated.
Cheers.

I'm not familiar with using those meds in particular, but I just treated my tank with coppersafe, and it rid them of the ich within a couple days. Well, actually it didn't RID them from it until after that, but the noticeable white spots were gone after about 3 or 4 days..but the coppersafe has to stay in the tank for a month. What kind of fish do you have? It isn't safe with all types. Actually, I don't think you can use it with any scaleless fish, and I know you can't with snails.

Myxazin is a bacterial med not parasite so no it won't work.
You need the waterlife med

protozin

Great, thanks for that. Stupid LFS people steered me down the wrong path, again!
Out with Myxazin and in with Protozin!

Think the staff need to do some learning, a very bad mistake to make.
Good luck.

Get Quick Cure and take the carbon out of the filter. Feed with live baby brine shrimp to give them an edge health-wise. Works for me.

Cheers,

Karen
