I believe my Zebra has eggs in her mouth and has been carrying them for couple days now. I read online what are the signs of breeding and so far she has done exactly as articles online said. First i saw her laying on the bottom hidding in between rocks and now swimming around and i can see stuff in her mouth. So what do i do now? Male has to release his sperm and fertilize the eggs...then what? If i have over 50 new babies will they all be bait to my other cichlids?

What should i do? I want to save some of the babies...Don't maybe couple...suggestions?

If the female is holding the eggs the male has already fertilized them. Mouthbrooder males will entice a female to lay her eggs in a spawning pit or on a flat surface, once she does the male will fertilize them and then the female will scoop them up in her mouth.

For your other questions, I suggest reading this article and this one.

If you have any other questions after reading those, I'll be happy to help. :good:

I have babies now!!! this is so cool..lol. Anyways i just saw couple of them hiding today. So far i've spotted 5 of them. There are probably more but they're hidding. So what should i do now? I know some of them probably got eaten already and the ones that are alive might get eaten as well if they come out from the hidding spots. Should i try to get them out some how?
