Well, I've slowly been trying to increase my wife's interest in the hobby. At first she really didn't care, but decided that if we were going to have fish in the house she'd at least like to get to know about it a bit more, and at least be a responsible pet keeper. So I tell her what's going on with the tank all the time, and ask her advice about stuff for aesthetics etc.
Anyway, we went to a fish shop and she pointed out some Pearl Gouramis, said they were pretty. I said 'yeah'. Came home, researched the fish, returned to the LFS and came back home with a fish in bag and handed it to her: "I got you a fish!!"
She thought it was pretty cool. Fish has been in there for a number of weeks now. I'm using Riccia on slate tied to hairnets. Well, even though my wife's interest has increased, her desire to get her hands wet, or even touch the fish food hasn't. She's a bit of a hygiene obsessor, which is cool, I understand that. The other day, I was at school and she was on the phone when she noticed the Pearl flapping around at the bottom. She quickly hung up, dived into the tank, rescued the fish from the hairnet. Luckily, she survived. She wasn't too healthy for a while though, but she's doing great now.
GO WIFEY!!!
