I have no clue as to what type of plant you are refuring to. A link to it would be helpfull as would all the stats on your tank. I can take a stab at it once I know more about your tank.

Size, type of fish, lighting, do you use co2, gravel, any ferilizers, water peramiters, how long you've had the plants and the tank, type of decorations, food you feed fish, I need to know everything so I can figure out if there's something missing or something you can change to make it work better. If you can think of it I need to know about it.

I have a 60 Watt bulb. no ornaments except some shells, I have a heater bubble filter and thermometer ;) thats the specifications :D I hope its tropical weed :/

Eaten away by fish or eaten away as in dying? Might want to try giving the fish some veggies in their diet. OTher thing too is I've never had any luck with that plant, if I remember right it needs a lot of light and CO2. Rose

yeah, eaten away as if dieing. 60 Watts enough? And how do I get Carbon Dioxide into a tank? Sorry i'm not really a pro ;)

I'm going to give you some homework for the weekend. On monday after all the reading you do if you still have questions let me know and I can go into them a bit more. (I'm like brain dead right now other wise I'd do it now...lol) This is going to be a link to a bunch of links that I have posted on here before. It has most if not all the answers you need to your planted tank needs. PLEASE read them as you will get more info from them than I can explain to you in one night.

Your homework....lol

brown like substance sounds like it could be the red algea. did you check the plants for snails? as these could be responsable for eating the plants,
if it is the brown algea i no through experiance of keeping bristle noses that they
will eat it along with green algea, :)

Thanks Rose and SLT you gave me some very good advice  i'm now thinking its brown algea i'm going to my LFS today so i'l look into some fish that can eat it :D Thanks again
