Hi everyone,

I've been lurking around on the site for a few months generally in the plec part of the forum and now in the new world part :)
So i thought id share some pics with you guys of my tank and fish. Im still very much a newbie at this but learning week by week which is really good, ill admit that i've done probably what 90% of people do and go crackers in buying fish and thinki ng later if its gonna work or not lol!.

But over the past month or so im getting a feel for where i want my tank to go in terms of stocking and from which part of the world they come from namely being built around the L-numbers i have. After a trip to my LFS today i even found out that they can supply me with R/O water every week for my water changes in a 25ltr drum!. So that will help no end with improving the water quality as where i live the water is very hard and generally full of the other bits you don't need in trying to create a soft water environment.

My tank is a Juwel vision 180 that i upgraded to from a Elite 90.
Filtration - Aqua one 750 external + Aqua one 1250 external
Light - T5 daylight + T5 nature light both juwel lamps

Stocking is as follows

1x Blue Phantom
1x Leopard Frog
1x Red Cactus pleco
1x Royal Panaque
1x Snowball pleco
1x Papa Panaque

Three of the above i have up for sale at the moment after wills pointed me in the right direction as to which ones will work in my tank.

13x Cardinal Tetras
10x Lime green tetras
7x Red Tail glass tetras
5x Purple Emporor tetras
6x Cory Julli
2x Hepolosturnam catfish
2X Blue rams
2x Golden rams
1x Pair of Double red Apistos
1x Pair of Gold Apistos

Also there is lots of bogwood and a large Java fern on one piece that i have as the centre piece. Once a week i do a 30ltr water change and dose back up with Aquaponics 7 day plantfood, this stuff has worked wonders of my java fern and java moss and also a 15ml cap of API Stress Coat+.

Apologies for the picture quality, im off to the picture upload advice section now so i can finally figure out how to use my camera! The Jewel Chichlids you see in a couple of the pics are no longer in the tank as they went back to the LFS today for being waaaaaaay to aggressive.

Let me know your thoughts :)

Regards

Matt

Most people would say your overstocked but I think it doesnt matter, as long as you maintain it very well and have a good filter. Tank looks great and so do the fishes, I love plecos too!
But I hope you realise that all of your plecos will need to be moved to a bigger tank except for maybe the L134, L128 and the LDA033/L201.
Do you have anymore pictures of your other plecos, I'd love to see them :D

Thanks Carl,

The first thing I brought for the tank was another external filter just because the bio load from the panaques is large lol!. The L190, L114 and the L090 are the ones I have up for sale at the moment but unfortunately I've had no takers. My mate just text from the LFS I use to say that they have a group of five snowballs back in from another customer and that they could do a deal on the plecs that will get to big for my tank :) I'll try and get some more pics and I'll keep adding to this thread as my tank changes and if I can get some decent pics of the plecs :)

Stocking wise I think there are probably only one or two more fish I'd like to add, preferably some fish that swim near the surface as the majority of mine are bottom to mid tank. If anyone could reccomend anything that would be great.

Regards

Matt

A good surface dweller is Celebes Halfbeak. I would get 3 of them, 1 male 2 female. They are very nice fish :good:

Cheers for the tip Carl,

Ended up getting three chocolate gouarmis from maidenheads in St Albans yesterday :) I've managed to get some better pics of the L128 and the L134 even put in an appearance last night, I'll stick them up later :)

Matt

Ooh, you've joined the Chocolate Gouramis club! :yahoo:
Keep us updated on them (and show us pics of them if you can)

My L114 put in an appearance tonight lol! must of known the camera was coming out :)

Ill get some pics of the chocolate gouramis (sp) tomorrow, fussy eaters though!. They are taking bloodworm which is a bonus, so gonna try some daphnia tomorrow so fingers crossed!.

I've hopefully got a buyer for the plecs too which is a bonus :)

Matt

Wow, Im jealous of your plecos, all of them are my favourites lol!

Take care of those chocolate gouramis mate, if you see anything that shouldnt be happening with them (cloudy eyes, sitting on awuarium floor...) then report it onto the forum straight away. They are quite delicate fish.
How much were they if you don't mind me asking? :look:

Just a shame that I cannot get a bigger tank into my place.

They cost me £14 for the three which I didn't think was too bad, they also said they that will be getting in a big delivery of soft water species in a couple of weeks. Thinking I might go down for a little looksy then :)

I manage to get a couple of pics which I'll post up when I get on a laptop next.

Regards

Matt

It sounds like a lot of fish you are having in that tank, but it doesn' show in the pictures. It doesn't look overcrowded, or are your shoaling fish in hiding somewhere? Beautiful fern you have in there, too.

Thanks for the reply :) I think I could probably loose the red tail glass tetras if was to thin it out a little. Thanks for the kind words about the java fern, it had a hair cut two weeks ago and since then has gone crackers!, will leave it a while to thicken up again before the next one.

Matt

Mmm, maybe I should be doing that too; mine is not growing much at the moment.

I treat it like a normal plant in my garden, just trim it back every so often and trim any dead flower heads and hey presto off it goes again :)
