In my 55g I have 2 common plecos that never swim up and eat the food or the frozen bloodworms that I feed my fish, so im wondering, are they going to starve? At the moment they are really small only like an inch each. I drop some algea wafers in at night but the other fish gobble em up b4 the plecos can get to them.

Think my plecs will be okay?

The chances are the plec's are out hoovering up the remaining food while your asleep! Most plec's get very nervous around people!

I would just keep an eye on them and when you feed bloodworm or algae wafer, try turning off the tank lights, the room lights and being far away from the tank.

My 3 Bristlenoses were the same, you never see them eat. Dont worry, they arent that stupid that they will starve to death, they will eat when they are hungry.

Also, with algae wafers, i will usually break up 2 whole algae wafers into 4 pieces each (So 8 all up) and scatter them around, that way my 3 silver dollars can suck on 1 each, and the 3 bristlenoses can have 1 each. then theres 2 left for who ever wants them!

Do you ever feed vegies? thats also another good idea.

I also give mine the sinking granules type food. Flake food would be no good.

I know Bristlenoses arent the same as plecs, but very similar especially when yours are only 1" long!

Your commons will soon become able to eat almost anything you drop in the tank!

Once they've become an esatblished size, they seem to go for anything and everything, but don't worry, while they are so small they will probably stick to munching in the dark, as it makes them feel more secure.

Try feeding some cucumber, slice it long ways and weight it down on the substrate, they should love that!

I once had a 30cm common who would swim upside down, and backwards to eat the flakes on the surface of the water! He would also 'grab' whole frozen blocks from the surface in his mouth and slowly devour them.

Okay thanks alot ima prolly try the cucumber idea. I tried zucini but they didnt really like that so maybe cucumber is the best.
