Hi I have a trigon 350l and wondered about how to remove the internal filter as when I bought it just recenetly the previous owner said they were siliconed in and it was a mission and a half to remove them but as I have an external it is realy only taking up room. when you look at the back of the fillter it looks like it is just held by suckers any info on what holds them in and the easyest way of removing them would be a great help cheers all

use some thread or fishing line, put it behind the filter and use a sawing action it will cut through the silacone.best of luck

I have had this issue..

It's not a massive job, if you have the right tool.

The 'pads' (what they look like) are splodges of silicon, if you get a very sharp, but very thin knife and slide it down the back (carefully) you can easilly remove them!

Pain in the butt tho lol

yeh nice one thanx think im just gonna leave it in now because I have my external return pipe going in to the fillter box with power head running and all the fillter sponges in with the fillter floss and lava rock in both fillters so the water is constantly getting double filltered and it is working a treat only thing now is my bog wood has let out aload of tinning and my water is now yellow but very clear and actualy looks quite good. THANX GUYS! :good:

I took ours out a few months back and added another external (its heavily stocked)

I've done them before on a rio 240 so knew what i was up against with teh 350L full......

I used a flat blade screwdriver (with a cotton cloth over the end) to flex the filter away from the glass enough to get a snap off blade between it - to my joy the top "pad just gave way and in 2 mis flat using just my hands i flexed the filter away from teh glass in each corner and it just popped away :)

dead easy...

It looks loads bigger with it out :)

and the water is clearer too :)
