Just over a week ago i moved all of my fish from my 100litre tank into my big community tank and i made the 100litre into a tiger barb only tank,a few days after adding the tiger barbs they broke out in white spot,at first i only noticed it on the green tigers but now most of them have it :(

I have been treating them with Interpet anti white spot and they got thier 2nd treatment today i also gradually put the heat up and its now sitting at 29c.

Problem i have now is that yesterday i noticed one or two were not swimming properly, and today most of them are swimming nose down as if they can't hold themselves upright.

This morning 5 have died :(

I'm pretty sure they have come from the LFS with the white spot but does anyone have any idea why they can't swim properly.

Please help as i really don't want to loose anymore.

Size of tank in gallons or litres. 100 litre
How many fish and which type. 10 tiger, green and albino barbs and 1 albino plec (he is absolutely fine

TB's in my experience have a tendancy to swim with their noses downwards, kinda vertical almost when they are not feeling well. Have you increased aeration in the tank as the high temps and the meds will knock the 02 levels, angle the filter to break the surface more, add an air stone if you can. Otherwise aside from keeping up with the meds there isnt much more you can do, remember its only when the ich parasite drops off the fish (when you see the spots falling off the fish) that it is vulnerable to medication, so you may have to do a second course of meds as you might not get all of them in one course. You can do a w/c if it helps, once the spots have fallen off, do a very thorough gravel vac to get as many of the parasites as you can, just remember to re-dose for the amount of medication you have removed.

Your ph is low, is it always that low?

Yea i have increased the air.

My ph is always at that except in my cichlid tank which is 7.5 due to ocean rock in the tank.

Are you sure its Ich, doesnt usually kill that quickly! Any chance of photos? How long have you had these fish?

Did you match ph and temp when you moved the fish.

Whitespot looks like the fish has been sprinkled in salt.
Need to raise temp to 30.
Plenty of aeration.

How long did you climatise the new fish for.

I can't get photos as they are all hiding :( they are covered in white (salt grain) spots and appart fron swimming nose down there seems to be no other symptoms :(

All you can do is raise temp to 30 and carry on treating.
Plenty of aeration as the high temp and med reduce 02 in the water.

Wilder they were acclimatised for 45 minutes or so by floating the bag with lights off then gradually adding some tank water.I then relesed them into a jug and then tranferred them into the tank.

The fish that i took out of that tank are all fine and my albino plec is fine (he is still in there)

Just hope they make it.
Good Luck.

Did the instructions say you can use the full dose with the fish you keep.

Yes it only advises not to use it on elephant nose fish.

You dose on days 1 and 4 then again 7 days later if required.

I have used this treatment succesfully on my clown loaches.(in another tank)

Ok.
Good Luck.
