Well i'm going to start a new thread for my new problem :) got the co2 up and going so that's fine..

I had a problem with kh being at 10ppm and i'v been doing water changes and adding soda to raise it.

Current test results (running co2 currently)

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: .1
KH: 30ppm
PH: 6.5

Any ideas... to get that kh up, out of the tap it's 50 ppm but, i think lack of water changes brought it down.

I want my ph at 6.5 but my kh to up around 70

As you add the baking soda you are raiseing the KH and the Ph as well, use the calculator to work it out.

Buffering KH

yes i undestand that, but i want the ph to stay at 6.5..

or am i just #### otta luck...
lol

with that .5 of a diff my co2 levels will be like 5ppm with it at 7 lol

should i just be worryabout about the kh right now?

ok i just did a 25% water change, added 1 tsp of soda

test results this morning are :

ph: 6.5
kh: 30ppm

no change...
this is odd

How big is your tank? If it's 55g+, then 1 tsp won't do anything. The only way to raise KH AND lower pH is to add CO2 or other form of acid/buffer, while adding carbonate to the water.
