I have three fish tanks set up.

One cold water that i have been running for almost 2 years, one community tropical i have been running for 4months, and one small betta i have been running for almost 2 weeks.

This is my cold water tank:

Th tank measures: L2ft, W15inches, H15inches (if anyone could work out how many Litres of Gallons this is i would be very great full)
This tank runs with a Fluval 2plus filter (not the one in photo- a much larger one)
It is aerated by a Maxima Dual Pump connected to an airstrip along the back of the tank and an air stone hidden in a shell.

This tank is home to One Apple snail, 4 Fan tail goldfish - One large, three very small, and two plain goldfish. This tank is a mix of live (non planted) and fake plants. The substrate is gravel.

This is my Betta tank:

This tank was made recently after my fighting fish attacked the other members of my community tank. This fish is extremely aggressive towards any other fish so is currently living alone - i may get it a snail companion.

This tank measures: L15inches, W10inches, H10inches. (If anyone could tell me the Litres or Gallons of this tank too that would be great!)
The tank is filtered with a corner bubble box filter powered by an Aqua Air AP1.
The tank is heated by a Rena Cal 100w
The substrate is fine white aquarium sand. the plants are all fake. apart from one moss ball.

This is my Community tropical tank:

This tank is slightly bow fronted, the tank measures: L2ft, W9inches(at the ends), H13inches, W11inches(in the middle) - if anyone could work out the Litres or Gallons on this tank too i would be very great full.

This tank has two small filters: 1 Rena Filstar and one Hvdor Interpet Ipf1.
The tank is aerated by an Aqua air AP2 pump to an air stone hidden in a flower pot.
This community tank is home to 1 gold ringed butterfly sucker, 1 silver molly, 1 balloon molly, and 8 guppies. I hope to add some glass catfish soon. This is a mixed aquarium with live and fake plants.
The substrate is gravel.

I look forward to hearing what you think of my tanks and any suggestions for change or improvement would be greatly appreciated. I have owned cold water fish for over 10 years but i am new to tropical and seem to be learning it all the hard way!

I also have two fire bellied toads, 1 hamster, 2 mice, 1 budgie, 4 rabbits and 5 Giant African land snails.

Thanks!!

Laura

This is an aquarium calculator link at the top of the page just below the adverts if you wish to calculate the size of your aquariums, nice collection of tanks and fish you have although i would say the goldfish tank is rather small for the amount of fish you have there, goldfish do get rather large and are very messy and in the near future i think your filter will have trouble keeping up with the waste they produce. You may want to look into re homing them or maybe having a pond and putting them in that? You would need a fairly large tank to keep those goldfish indoors.

thanks guys!

as the goldfish grow i re home them in to ponds apart from the fan tails as they don't swim well enough to fight for food, so they get re homed into a 4ft fish tank my friend has. i have raised baby goldfish and re homed them for the past ten years.

its the tropical's i cant get my head around!!

thanks for your comments!! xx

Why don't you just buy a bigger tank, instead of giving the fish away all of the time?

im only a student, i dont have space or time, i have only had to rehome 4 goldfish due to size. the white one in the pictures is 10 years old. the large fantail is 8, i rehomed 4 other fish that were 6 years old and i have replaced them with some half inch long fan tail babies. if my friend decided she no longer wanted to rehome them and i felt they werent suitable for a pond then i would make a larger tank.
the pond is next door to my house in my neighbours garden so i get to see them everyday which i like.

I'm only a student, too, but I understand. I'm glad you still get to see them. :)

the oldest goldfish is on his 5th tank upgrade - then he will be put in pond!

i rescue all of my animals - even some of my fish so budget is always limited.

but they do all get the best life.
