First tank is 38 gal community tank. Inhabitants are 3 pearl gouramis, 4 golden barbs, 4 diamond tetras, 1 rtbs, 1 plec (who'll be rehomed when he gets too big), 1 khuli loach and 2 swordtails. This tank I know is at full capacity so they'll be no more fish. I do want to plant it and got 3 plants today. Anyone any suggestions? Please be kind, it's a work in progress!

Next, my Molly tank. Inhabitants 6 mollies, 4 female, 2 male and 2 female guppies. Not planning on getting anymore guppies so letting them live their lives out with the mollies. It's just under 20 gallons. Will be making it slightly brackish over the next few days and like the big tank I plan on adding some real plants.

i like your tanks, wish i could have a community your size instead of an 18g but its better than nothing

cant wait for updated plant pics

xXx

Nice tanks, the first one has a pretty cool background :good: . Is that a second background on it showing through with the statue and pillars?

A note for that tank though is that the plant at the back left is a non aquatic Dracaena, which will just die and rot. I'm not sure what the other plants are, worth checking though so you know their requirements :).

2nd tank looks pretty good too, though the background looks a little out of place to me :p.
Nice to see someone going to keep mollies with marine salt in the water, you'll be looking for salt tolerant plants like java fern which will make it look even better :).

You should add 5 or 6 more khuli's to your 38G community. Khuli's are a social species and would do well to have some companions. Adding a few more khuli's will not hamper your bio-load either so I recommend you do this for the lone khuli's health :good:

Tanks look good, good idea adding a bit of salt to the molly tank (though I'm not sure how guppies handle the salt). Good Luck :good:

Like the second tank, not so sure about the first.

Hi there,It's a double sided back ground, the one that should be showing is the greek theme! But the desert theme shows through withe lights on. Thanks for advice re plants. :good:

Thanks Ox! There used to be 2 loaches but one of them vanished completely, either that or I only ever see one at a time and they're both actually still! I hardly ever see it, maybe if I had more they would come out more often?
Like the second tank, not so sure about the first.
In what way? I'm not 100% happy with the big one either, I hate that big grey castle thing, but my RTBS loves it, the tank is very bright, not sure if it's too bright, everything in it was mostly inherited (the way I got into fish keeping, it was landed on me but now I love it, hence the second tank) except the log which I bought for the pleco, but the RTBS has taken that over too, greedy fish.I'm trying to get it really good, any suggstions?

nice tanks shoud swap your common for some bn plecs then you get loads of wigglers when they breed

cheers dane

hi
i don't think you need to do much to the big tank really, :)
if you want to tone it down a little, change the back ground
to a black or blue one,you could hide the decorations behind
some more plants, either real of fake,
i did the same thing so my fish still had their favourite place to hide,
however it can't be seen.

Thanks Dane. I will have to do something about the plec eventually, but atm I just want him to be happy. I think he's had more owners than hot dinners and I know he probably doesn't give a hoot but I don't want to put him through another change of ownership (yet!). So I'm going to keep him til he gets bigger then at that point I'll either upgrade or find him a really good home. But he's absolutely no way going back to a LFS where he could possibly end up in a smaller tank! Bless him.

That;s a great idea! Next water chage it's going behind the plants. Thanks! :good:
