I thought I'd come here and explain my tank and plans.

My 35G
8 mollies
1 keyhole
1 pleco?

Am in the process of changing from sand to gravel. (yuck)

I am going to get a Fluval 204 and plant the tank properly, low light plants, crypts, annubus, sword plants

I don't think I will change the fish, I may remove the pleco but the mollies are all tank raised and the Keyhole is the last one of three - should I get him a buddy?

15G

probably mollies - if they keep breeding.

again planted with white and natural gravel, planted with Crypts only.

6G

white gravel
Java fern - already growing on wood, expensive but I have never got them to grow like that. what fish could I have in here?

12G hex
looks pretty good as is gravel, annubus and crypts, needs to be cleaned must go do that!

I am mostly wondering about the stock of the 35 and whether or not the 204 will be enough filtation. really if I am truthful I want angel fish but don't think the tank is big enough its 16" high and three foot long.

thanks

I don't have time to answer all your questions (class is about to start), but I suggest you get a few tetras for your 6 gallon. All the same, of course. 6 neons, maybe. Maybe a shoal of corys. :) I've never had a tank that small, so I'm not sure exactly how big it is.

Also, 8 mollies may be a bit too many for your 35 gallon. I'd narrow it down to 5. Mollies can grow quite big. I've never had a keyhole, so I'm not sure about him. :(

thanks ,

I think I missed counted the mollies, there are only 6? and i haven't found any bodies, two adult sized and four little ones. I really thought I had more.

I think they will be the dither fish for the key holes, or maybe I will exchange them for a pair of rams.

does anyone have any pictures of a male and a female Key hole Cichlid? I know the male is meant to have more rounded long fins? but not exactly sure how that looks..........

thanks

Can I ask why your changing from sand to gravel? is it to do with the cichlid?
