My Tank

aww right :p i forgot 2 say i got 2 differnt bottles that the shop give me ??

i just red the bottle :S:S ... and 1 of them is Cycle lol soz m8 :D
and the other bottle is AQUA Plus

so.. i gotta put them in now 2 night

Holy christ, type properly. Or the fish gods will turn you into a neon and throw you into the abyss that is CFCs 900g. >.<

Always remember to dechlorinate water before adding ANY new water to your tank. Also, instead of sitting here typing asking if you should add the bottle of stuff you got from the store: give the bottle a good read and make your own judgement. If it says water conditioner, makes water safe for fish, and you havn't put any in yet, it's generally a good idea you do so.

The product 'cycle' is one of the ones which doesn't actually cycle a tank :/
Get a bottle of ammonia and follow the guidelines in the fishless cycle thread :good:

Very nice, pets at home have told you to wait for no reason, you need to cycle in this time.

no1 still aint sugested anythin bout what fish or stuff 2 have ???

I would highly recommend to read the previous posts about fishless cycling and do one.
Failing that you should read this on fish in cycling:

Doing a fish in cycling will mean lots more work (or deaths/illness) in the long run and limit your choice of fish at first to hardy species.
Also, what filter are you running?
EDIT: Do you know anyone with a tank you could get some media from?

Aww right :p here a pic :p dnt no wa filter it is and no i cant get a media think u were on bout ..

right.. all i dun 2 my tank is put water in ... and the cycle .. and the thing 2 take away the clorine :p ..
what else do i need 2 do im a newbie :( ... please helpp .. Thanx :D

Fish will produce waste, this waste breaks down and chemical called ammonia becomes present.
Ammonia is quite toxic to fishes even in small amounts, fortunately ammonia is consumed by bacteria (mainly in the filter media). The ammonia consuming bacteria produces another chemical as a result, nitrite (which is also toxic to fish). Again, nitrite is consumed by another type of bacteria and as a result nitrate is produced. Nitrate is less toxic to fish than ammonia and nitrite, but routine water changes ensure that it stays at an acceptable level.

When people say they are "cycling" a tank what they mean is that they are waiting for enough bacteria to establish so that ammonia and nitrite are no longer present in the tank. When a tank has reached this point it is referred to as "cycled".

These are two options to cycle your tank:
  • Fishless cycle - adding ammonia yourself to simulate the ammonia that would be produced with fish (less time, no risk to live stock)
Fish in cycling - adding a few hardy fish that will be able to withstand the ammonia and nitrite spikes while doing frequent water changes (more work, less choice of fish, but you do have fish right away)

Mature media (media with bacteria already established) will allow you to complete your cycle sooner, which is why I asked.

The "Cycle" you have probably won't help. I don't have any experience with these products but almost all instant cycle products seem to lack support on these forums atleast.
The product you added to remove chlorine was recommended to you because chlorine can affect the bacteria in your filter. Another chemical called chloramine is also added to some tap water and may cause similar issues, although some users do not use any dechlorinator and do not experience any adverse affects.

Finally do you have the packaging for your filter to find the model? I don't know alot about internal filters but it does look quite small for a 150l tank.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions.

Thankyou for that

um. the filter is big mind :p its the 1 that made for the tank.. and it not 150L i dnt think bit less then that .. i dnt no thow :p so...

Ok, I'm sure the filter is fine then. If you know anyone at all with a fish tank then it would be a good idea to ask them for a bit of sponge from their filter that you could then put in yours. However, all the bacteria in a filter sponge will die out within 24 hours without a source of ammonia.
Either way, you should buy a good liquid test kit for testing ammonia levels, nitrite levels, nitrate levels and pH. If you take your water to be tested at a fish shop, the water in their tanks and tap water will give very similar readings, so your tank won't be cycled unless you follow one of the methods posted above.
If you decide to do fishless cycling then you will need some ammonia (see the fishless cycling thread for details of ingredients), you can get a bottle of ammonia from Boots or Homebase.
If you need any more help about cycling feel free to PM me.
