I noticed yesterday one of my green tiger barbs has been hiding under this piece of bogwood and it wont come out, not even to eat. I watch my fish all the time to know theres really no bullying going on. I have been medicating the tank for some white spot, (but dont worry i have an air stone running to make sure the water is oxygenated,) so could that be it?

i have a 30 gallon with 6 tiger barbs along with
3 gouramis
2 mollies
3 rainbows

My stats are
Ammonia 0
nirtrite 0
nitrate: close to 0

anyone have info? it would be greatly appreciated.

Not to sure, my tiger barbs sleep on each other hhaha, so unusal behaviour could mean nothing. If its a female she could be laying eggs though im not sure how their reproductive cycle goes. You could try to move it, feed by hand, placing like a pellet or making sure a flake drops near the fish, and make sure its not caught on anything.

But really im not to sure, could of fallen ill, injured itself anything really. I guess best thing would be is putting food near it, because itll get hungry one way or another, it seems to be localized aswell since the other tigers arent showing any symptoms so im doubting it has to do anything with water quality.

Last but not least, how olds the tank itself? and do you add salt to it?

ive had the tank for almost 6 months, and no i do not add any salt.

ok so now another barb has joined it in there and they just stay in those spots

if you already have disease in the tank (you said your medicating for white spot) then i would suspect they are coming down with it too or are having an adverse reaction to the medicine.

white spot meds are really not nice and while they shouldn't harm your fish they're not exactly nice for them so it could well just be that.

just think sometimes you may get prescribed something from the docs and while it's treating you it'll make you feel really sick. Kind of like that but the poor fish have no way of knowing what's happening to them and why they feel bad.

as your already treating the tank i wouldn't advise you to change things, just keep a close eye on them.

Now all my tiger barbs are acting very strange and the one that was just sitting in a cave and wouldnt come out is floating near the top almost horizontal. On top of all that the white spot thats on my pleco which looked like it was going away is now all over him again. The whole tank just seems so off and it has me stressed. What should i do?

White spot is like that - the dots on the fish burst and loads more parasites come out, they have a fre floating stage in the water thn re-attach to the fish in greater numbers than before.
Higher temps speed up the lifecycle, so that generally helps (as medication only works in the free-floaing stage of the parasite life cycle).
Leaving the lights out is also supposed to help - I have no idea why it should, but it coud be worth a go.
Keep using the meds until the full course of treatment is finished - double check you've got the right dosage just in case thats it.
Unfortuantely, sometimes fish are too weakened by the parasite to pull through.

I add a whitespot outbreak, and my platies did exactly the same as your barbs. they hid under everything they could and really were not very happy. the neons on the other hand acted normally. It took 3 weeks of medication and high temps, and about 3 cycles of the parasite before it all disappeared. I only lost 3 neons in that time and the platies are all back to normal. Keep treating, turn the heat up and hope you dont lose too many. But hang in there, there is hope!
