So I just picked up a common Pleco last week and it turns out he has Ich and has given it to the tank.(Guess I should setup a Q tank).
Anyways, I just want to make sure I'm treating it right.

The tank is a 40gal.
Neon Tetra
Hatchet Fish
Clown loaches
Cory cats
Mlaties
Common pleco

Im using AP quick Cure. Removed the carbon filter and put in 20 drops(Half dose as I read tetras and pleco's are sensitive to meds) and raised the temp by about 2deg. In a couple days ill do a 50% water change and continue. Is this right? Also, How often do I treat the tank? thx

Sounds about right. Go by the instructions on the API package as to how often.

I just finished treating ich in a tank with a BN plec and Black Neons so i was worried about the effect of the medication too . I'd heard the ich treatment could be bad for them both but they sailed though and the tank has appeared clean for well over a week now. I raised the temp to 28 degrees C , up from 25 , during treatment and lowered it gradually back over the last week.

Initially took 2-3 days for the white spots to drop off and disappear completely from the fish (it was only apparent on the Neons) , then carried on treating with 48 hourly half doses for the next two weeks which is probably overkill but what the heck. I also gave the gravel a very good vac when i did a water change after 3 days from the start of treatment and redosed at the same time.

Just to be clear, the parasite while it is attached to the fish is quite resistant from treating. When the parasite is in it's free swimming stage it is vulnerable. They have a life cycle of 2 weeks, so keep treating even after the spots have gone.
