My swordtail exploded~!!

I woke up today and I happened to notice my female betta in the 20 gal. paying extreme close attention to the gravel...stalking something..and she lunged,out darted a fry..well my big fat swordie turned out to be big fat pregnant swordie and I had no clue she showed no gravid spot. lol SO for the past 10 hours Ive been fighting the betta for fry as the swordie squirts out one every 5 or 10 minutes. She (betta) got about 6 or so of them and is actually fighting the net every time I go to scoop. I dont think she's (the swordie) done yet,she's still pretty fat. And GROUCHY! Lord she is attacking every fish that moves. She's attacking the crap out of the chinese algae eater! I hope she stops soon, my breeder net is overflowing with fry!! and IM TIRED.

Congrats on becoming a grandma!!

I was in a similar situation b4, and I managed to net 27 swordtail frys after 2 days on close inspection of the tank. I stayed up ALL night coz the frys like to go out from hiding after midnight .. and I only slept for 2-3 hours in between the 2 days.

Anyway good luck with the fry netting!
