recently all my chocolate chip starfish has been doing is slowly moving across the sand and making piles of it..

anyone have any idea whats it doing or if something is wrong with it?

Sounds like it is hungry and looking for food in the sand. Do you feed it? You can offer them bits of prawn or fish every few days. Put a small piece between their arms and let them crawl over it. Then they will extend their stomach over it and digest it.

ok thanks ill try that, and specific type of fish i should use? do i use raw or cooked prawn or fish? and when u say between u mean in like the "armpit" part or under the actual arm?

Any sort of fish or raw prawn is fine, you can also use most types of marine fish food. If you have shrimp in the tank then you can use cooked shrimp to feed it and that should prevent any viruses from transferring across to your shrimp.
You try to put the food under the armpit area where the arms join the central disk.
