Hey everyone
Just thought id do a little check up list on whats needed to make sure my amazon grows to its full potential soon as its basically the centre peice and the only plant in my aquarium.
The plant is placed close to the back of the tank but in the middle and is in a 2/3 inch deep section of substrate consisting of laterite sand and gravel, this is all pushed together with two bits of bogwood to make sure the substrate stays deep.
I have placed 6 iron pegs in and around the base of the plant but apart from that there is no ohter aid giiven apart from my light. My light choices are either an aracadia plant grow lamp which is 25 watts and gives off a pinkish glow which gives good affect to the biotope but doesnt seem to make the tank very bright for the plant. The other option ebing a power glow lamp which is also 25 watts and seems a lot brighter.
I was told T8 lamps were fine for such an undemanding plant and that i did need ferts and if i did i should go with leave ones and that i would neither need CO2, is this all true.
PH=6-6.5
GH=2/3
Temp=82F
Tank gal= 23 US
Cheers
Sam
PS: My last idea was that the leaves seem to be going a bit yellow round the edges which i rekon is calcium shortage, the only reason ic an thing the plant would have this is becasue i dont add the tropic marin powder to my rainwater on water changes, if i start doing this will the leaves get better??
