After my molly gave birth a month ago her black spot didn't go away, she looked like she'd lost some scales and was swimming on her side. I gave her mashed up peas and she improved (not sure if it was the peas that helped but she was a lot better). Now her black spot is getting a lot bigger and she's started swimming on her side occasionally. I'm pretty sure she's not pregnant cos she isn't getting bigger and the male molly I had died a couple of months back. She is eating ok and does get chased by the other silver molly at times but she seems happy enough. Any ideas what's up with her?

does the mollies fin seem to be ok cause it might be it has a bad fin

I can't help a LOT, but I do know that livebearers...such as mollies...can carry multiple pregnancies at one time. She could have given birth, and still had another pregnancy to go through. As far as the swimming on her side...I have no idea. But someone else should be able to help you out. ;) Good luck.

Her fins are fine, it's just the lack of scales - seethrough/slimey appearance where her gravid spot is that concerns me. I've been watching her tonight and she seems alright really, she just goes through spells of not looking so good and swimming at an angle. The enlarged black spot concerns me too. She does get pushed around by the other females a bit - I've no idea why. I take your point about multi pregnancies but she seems too slim to be pregnant?

Thanks for your help.

I've managed to take some pictures of my silver Molly who is ill. She seems to be getting worse and getting a grey appearance to her scales (which is more evident since I took these photos).

She is still being picked on, predominately by the other female silver Molly and she sometimes swims on her side.

Has anyone got any ideas what is wrong with her?

The pics can be found here The focus isn't great because they never keep still! :S :)
