my silly oscar

lately ever since my little oscar has been growing up (hes is almost 3 inches now)
he has the desire to jump liek a mad fool!!!! he will jump rite out of the water and hit the lid even at the site of me!!! eihter he likes me....or hte food i give him


but today he jumped rite out of the tank and on the floor AGAIN!!!! 3 times now!!
i feel kinda bad but he doesnt mind becuase as soon as i slip him back in the tank he goes right back to eating.... crazy guy!

any suggestion on how to train this little guy not to do that anymore??

Is your tank lid secure? Or does he jump out when you open the lid? You could try turning the lights of for a bit at feeding time so he does not get as excited (subdued atmosphere), although I'm not sure if it will work.

hmm it is secure on there , he jumps when i open it

i may try turning the light off, he calms down in the dark

Get a secure heavy lid that has no holes. Back when I bred Oscars, I had adults who would jump and take the entire hood with them. I would recommend a glass top in addition to the standard hood

Yes, get him in th habbit to eat in the dark. Thats a good thing about oscars, they are easly trained and will do anything for food. Also try putting a ping pong ball (table tennis ball) in his tank. He will happily play with is, so it could wear him out a little bit lol
