My Severum

Had " Jack " my severum for a while now, and is boss of the tank.
I have realised lately that I don't really know much about them , and is he too long in the tooth for a companion? I call it HIM because of his manly features, but is it male or female?

please fill me in on some detail

Something about that picture doesnt seem right to me. It has colouring like I havnt seen before and the head shape seems different. Though I could be wrong, I'll wait for others to make judgement.

I definately dont think its a severum, like I said colouring and shape all wrong, though it looks like a nice fish.

it does indeed have the markings of a Neetroplus bocourti but the colouration seems dull.

what size is he, what size tank is he in, what are the water parameters, who are his tankmates?

fron nose to tail he is about 5 inches, but I agree, the colours are not as bright as the posted pic
oh, he is in a fluval 260

sorry mate, had to test the water in order to answer your questions.

water has a ph of 7.0 the tankmates are 2 rainbow, 1 convict, 1 common plec, 1 green terror and 1 blue acara.oh and 2 angels

the tank has a sand substrate, with artificial plants and rocks

you have still failed to answer the questions
but I can guess that ammonia, NO2 and NO3 are going to be an issue in your vastly overstocked tank.

if you wish to keep your fish healthy then I suggest that you do something about your stock level
and rehome most of the fish.

I have a juwel 400 l tank arriving tuesday, and sorry, didn't test for ammonia. will do it when i buy a kit. only got a ph testing kit

Well, you cant keep angels with convict's, and pleco's grow to be huge. You need to cycle the tnak before you put ANYTHING in it. So is it a Severum? I have google the Scientific Name, and all the site's come up in russian or something!
