Looks good, I like the dark substrate, I'm a big believer that it always looks nicer than natura gravel. Its already got a backdrop hasnt it? That looks good as well, all the stones an that. I'm agreed that it does need a few more plants though.

am going to try and get some more plants for the back of the tank but i dont seem to have much luck with plants.

the pic there does not have a background because i cant find one i like and i hate them stick on things! im hoping i can get the back planted up so i wont need a background

by the way the orange pot is a herb pot and the fish love hiding in there. the pics dont really do it justice as its teracotta and looks really bright there

beautiful tank but u need to get some large plants on the right side of the tank...its looks kinda empty and would also help hide your filter!...otherwise nice job!

I assume you have the one fluorescent tube supplied with the tank - in which case you only have 0.8 Watts per Gallon (WPG). This is why you have trouble growing plants.

If you haven't already done so, try replacing the supplied tube (Juwel supply cheap and frankly rubbish tubes to keep their costs down) with a full-spectrum type (read the lighting artilcle in my sig for a list) and use a decent reflector. This will help but to stand the best chance you really need to add another tube.

With 0.8 WPG (of good quality light with reflector) you may have success with Anubias, Java fern, Java moss and some Crypts. You may even have some success with very easy stem plants i.e. Hygrophila polysperma.

Lose the airstone too if you go planted - these drive off CO2 - a vital nutrient for plants.

Hope this helps.

Nice tank BTW - it would be nice to see some more live plants in there though ;)
