Ive got a 125 gallon aquarium, my list of fish is below, the problem is that my RTS agression is off the scale with 3 particular fish. The Jewel Cichlid, the Jack Dempsey, and occasionally the chinese algie eater. He is going after the Jack and the Jewel so agressively Im starting to worry about permanent damage to them. None of the cichlids in his size range(2-4 inches) will stand up to him they just get beat on and the cichlids I do have that are much larger than he is leave him alone and likewise he leaves them alone. He is not afraid of me tapping on the glass at him anymore and Ive even tried removing him from the tank and reintroducing him with no success. I love RTS's and I dont want to get rid of him, I mean good lord its primarily a cichlid tank, how is it that the RTS is running the show here?

1 Green Severum
1 Electric Yellow Cichlid
1 Cobalt Blue Cichlid
1 Melanochromis auratus
1 Jewel Cichlid
1 Jack Dempsey
1 Angel Fish
1 Common Pleco
1 Chinese algie eater
1 bala shark
1 Red Tail shark

Tanks big enough does he have his own caves, they do get aggressive as they get older.
If he dosn't stop picking on other fish you will have to rehome him i'm afraid.
You do know bala sharks have to be kept in a group, the one of its own won't be happy they are a shoaling fish.

Yeah, I had 3 bala sharks, the RTS killed 2 of them when they were smaller, the remaining bala is so much bigger than everything else in the tank, none of the other fish bother him, he pretty much does his own thing. Ive thought about getting another bala but Id have to get a big one, I dont think a small one would make it to maturity with the current crop of fish in there. There are also caves in there but he rarly goes in them, he preferes to just swim around the tank mid to bottom level.

Wow he is a bully, he got a taste for it now, don't think to be honest there much you can do.
Only give him more hiding spots.
Seen the problem all to often and even giving them back to the lfs or a new owner is just really putting the problem onto someone else.
He really needs a tank of his own then he can't harm another fish, that a choice for you.

Maybe I could just reach in the tank and give him a squeeze and tell him to knock it off lol Really though its crazy, I thought putting him in with jacks and an auratus and all these other big bad fish would help but it hasnt. Some fish I guess just have a chip on their shoulder, and cichlids are pretty tough, eventually they will outgrow him signifigantly, if they make it that far the problem should rectify itself hopefully.

Looks like a prison sentence for him a tank of his own, or maybe find someone who willing just to keep him in a tank of his own.
You can't change his nature i'm afraid.
Good luck.
