Hi all,
Ive been reading a lot of post about people modyfing their Jewel aquariums due to lack of lighting. Well guess what...Ive done exactly the same.
I wanted a rlativly heavy planted tank and so the one strip light in the hood was not enough. After some crappy hacksaw work and copius amounts of pink gripfil ( Its water proof and was allowed to cure a week prior to adding water to tank so no risk of contamination) I added a Jewel duolux unit inside and moved the original light to the rear so I now have 3 18w lights in there now!!! So at 80 litres I now have around 3wpg!!
I also have a co2 canister from german ebayer and eheim 2215 ( I also ripped out the jewel filter). I am a little on the high stock mainly because I figured that I was over filtering so I thought it would do no harm.
At the minute im using seachem flourish but do intend on taking the leap onto EI.
Im going to try and get a cam sorted to take some pix to shw and hopefully get some feedback, but the plants and fish seem to be doing ok. I just have a coulpe of uissues with green water and some staghorn algae on my java fern
!!
Hope to add some pics as I modify and "tweak" the tank. I look forward to it.
