Hi its my first post here yay!

Anyway i have a pair of breeding bristlenose catfish in my 130 litre tropical freshwaer tank and so far they have bred three times that i know of.
The first time they bred i caught the babies and put them in a litte breeding net thing that hung on the side of the tank. I did this without either of the parents. However they all died and didn't eat the food i dropped in.
The second time i just let the bristlenoses do what they wanted wih the babies. And all of them hid in a small hole in my main rock. More survived for a while and they got bigger but then they dissapeared. I havenet seen them since
The third time has just happened recently and i have 8 of the babies by themselves in an icecream cntainer until i can find out a better place to put them.

So my question is how can i help them survive?
Do i put them in the breeding net thing with the parents?
Do i just leave them?
Do i put them in an alternate tank (i have a 30 liter tank that is not set up i could get a hang on filter from a friend who had fish but i don't know if i can get aother heater)
If i set up another tank do i put the parent bristlenoses in?

Sorry for long post but want help and don't want to be a fish butcherer!!!

First off, what size tank are you breeding them in, and what are the results of water tests? (Numbers please, fine or good does not tell us anything)

A breeders net is a no go with bristlenose, or any fish actually, there are better easier ways. What are you feeding the fry, how much, and how often?

thanks for response.I was just feeding the fry normal algae tablets, sinking pellets and flakes last. But it is only in the lst hour or so that i put them into a separate container so i haven't fed them yet and i usually feed them five or six times a week

my tank is 31 galons (120 liters)

I will get back to you on the results of tests

They will need fresh veggies, blanched zucchini or other veggies in the squash family work well. A tiny bit of freshly hatched baby brine shrimp is good as well, you have to go real easy with this though, as it will cause intestinal problems if fed too heavily.

Most tanks do not have enough algae growth to sustain the adults & fry, unless it is a really large tank with direct sunlight. The veggies compensate for this.

ok thanks for the feeding tips. My levels are
Ph: 7-7.2
Ammonia:0.5-1.0
Nitrite: 0

also what should i do with them i don't want to leave them in the ice cream container for long!!
especially withouttheir parents or heat

That ammo level is bad news, I hope that is not the tank reading. I would put the fry in with they parents asap, as well as picking up some veggies for them. I generally load up at the end of the year, and freeze them.

that is the tank levels but i only changed the water a short while a go so the readings might not be accurate. any way how do i blanch the vegetables?
and is it worth buying a heater and putting the fish back in with their parents in a separate tank?

i just added the babies into a plastic fish bag and floated that in the tank. Should i be releasing the babies into the main tank? by the way is there something i can use to cover up the filter intake part so the babies don't get sucked up because that is where i found most of these babies?
