Well... I think my betta Afia isn't going to live for much longer.
I reported a while ago about a lump on her side, no matter what I did though, it just kept getting larger and now my poor girl is SO bloated.
I've been giving her epson salt baths, and they seem to help a little, but she's now started to pinecone.... why's dropsy always have to occur!! SIGH. I'm also treating the tank with meds hoping it'll help, but I feel she's already too far gone.
Bless her little soul though, she still begs for food like the good little oinker she is.

Here are some pics of her in her better days...

Showing off her pretty long fins

Being pestered by Raj on the other side of the divider. It's blurry but still makes me laugh.

Just a pretty shot of her

And of course.. a betta pic collection wouldn't be complete without the betta and reflection pic! heh *squeels* Look how short her fins are! She's so cute :)

*sigh* I hate seeing her in her current state.......

No its a girl :)

I'm sorry shes not doing well... but you're doing everything that you can for her and I'm sure that she appreciates that. *big hugz*

Just updating on her condition.
The meds and the baths seem to be helping a little bit.
The pineconing hasn't gotten any worse, but it hasn't gone away either.
Her bloating hasn't gotten any worse, but also, hasn't gotten any better.

She did greet me with her usual food begging wiggle this morning though when I woke up. For the past few days, she's either be hiding under a plant or up by the filter intake and then come over when I opened the lid. So I guess she was feeling a little better.

I still don't think she's going to last for much longer, but she's definitely a fighter and not giving up.

Your love for her is quite evident. YOu are both in my prayers. Hugs. -Wendy

Updating....
Well Afia is still around, but she's definitly not going to last too much longer. At least that's my hope.
Poor girl is pineconing so badly now and she's still so bloated.
I have her in a big net in the 10gal tank so she won't have far to go for air. Before, she was just resting at the bottom up under a plant and going up at the last second. Wish we had a quarantine tank open, but all tanks are occupied right now :\
Bless her, she still wants to eat though and I'm not going to deny her that in her last moments.

I'm afraid Raj (the other betta in the tank w/ her) is developing whatever she had. I've been noticing a bump on his left side. He acts totally normal, but I think it's getting bigger.
If it's bacterial, I thought the meds that I treated the tank w/ before would've solved it.
What on earth could this be?
I was going to put some platy fry into the tank, but if whatever this is is contagious... well.. I need to figure out what it is before I put any other fish in the tank and before another fish succumbs to it.

Oh poor fishes. I hope she has gone now. I hate to see them suffer., But, you say she is a fighter well so are you. You couldn't have tried any harder. Hugs to you....xx

Thanks a bunch and *HUGS* back..

She's still here actually. She looks miserable in the net, but I'm not going to let her out of it.
I should euthanize her, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I've asked fiance to do it, but he's just like me and just can't.

I put a couple of pellet foods in the net with her and she slowly ate them up. I feel so bad for her.

Hopefully this weekend we'll be going to a petstore or fish store and I'm going to get some tetracycline as Wilder suggested in the emergency section. I really hope it works on whatever is wrong with Raj b/c I can't see him go out the same way.
