So my plants showed up today (early), and there is no way on Earth I can do anything with the tank until tomorrow night because I have to completely drain it and swap out the gravel for sand.

What should I do? Just float them in a tub with some water and stick my aquarium light over them for tomorrow? I would have asked in the plant forum but I haven't had much success in there.

They'll manage without light for a day or two; justpop them in a bucket of warm water in a warm place and they'll be fine.

Ok. I threw them in a 5G bucket and threw the light over the bucket anyways. The fish dont need it anymore today, so I figure I might as well give them light for a few hours before bed since they were already in a box since Tuesday. Thanks for the peace of mind :)

BTW MAN, I thought I had a decent amount of plants to get started -- I don't think Ill even come close to doing what I want to do plant wise.

The tanks footprint is 30" x 12" (15" toward the front of the bow --- I got 10 Vallisneria spiralis to place across the back, as well as 3 Brazilian pennywort plants. I also got 5 anubias barteri, 4 narrow leaf java ferns, and 2 brown crypts, but I think it might still look fairly bare after all this. I guess I can always plant more!
