i only have a 20g (for like 5 months)
but how much would a say 55g with about 6 discus cost without co2 injection and a with good filter

Thats a lot alot of water changes, i,m feeding beefheart at the moment, and are doing 20% each day hard work :)

The rule of thumb badis56 is 10gal per fish so 60 + is recommended as the min for discus.

The minimum tank your talking about is a 48*18*18inch which is a 60gal i would imagine at a guess running up to the £100 mark (excluding the hood and light).
Personally i would go for over filtration, because of the high protein foods you need to feed discus, something like large eheims (£100+ mark).
And fish about £10 to £30 depending on the strain. and where you buy them from, its cheaper if you can find a good hobbyist breeder.

A word of warning, read up first and make sure you understand the requirement's of these fish, they are not difficult to look after, but do need well maintenance environment, and constant quality of water etc etc.

( a tip for before you buy your fish, ask and match the PH of your dealers tank and match yours to that, the most common carse of discus death with beginners is PH shock)

I completely agree with Simon, 10 Gallons per fish is the recomended as a min for discus. My tank is a really bad example of this but I soon hope to clear some out. Im currently thinking about uping the water changes I do. Instead of doing 2 large changes I may do what Simon does 20% a day. Makes sense just more work when you have two other tanks to look after with lots of young angels!!

I shall post pics of the young discus & angels that I need to move on in the Buy/sell & swap section. They will be extremely so keep your eyes peeled.
