My Planned Mbuna Stock

cant believe how much thick white dust has come off the sand, thought it was the slate at first but definately from the sand. my glass and heater are covered, im gonna keep filling and emptying with water till its clear.

ive emptied the tank now till i get my filter, rearranged the rock for hopefully the last time.

i have a couple questions..

i have the rock against the back of the glass so theres plenty of caves but the fish wont be able to swin through them, is this ok?

the slate takes up half the width of the tank is this too wide, will there be enough swimming room?

The amount is fine. Id also have it off the glass so they swim through and around. I also preferred your first pile as it looks less stacked on top of each other and more random.

Totally agree :good: :good:

i changed it literally about an hour after those pics lol, have it in the middle now so they can swim through

i agree the first looked best but the way the rocks were angled didnt leave much room at all, i have tried to make it look as natural as possible whilst having enough swimming room and holes to swim through. will post more pics when i have my filter and fish next week :hyper:

im just a little worried at how sharp some of the slate is now

got fish today :hyper: ..but light has stopped working all of a sudden so cant take pics

3 Labeotropheus trewavasae
3 Labidochromis caeruleus (yellow labs)
3 Metriaclima estherae (red zebra)

If it was me with the slate instead of stacking it up id try build caves and bury a few pieces on a angle. Have a few pieces of slate pointing upwards then sit another piece on top to make a cave if that makes sense :fun: or have a few stacked and a few caves. Will give the males a good territory to start digging and claiming it as there own (depending if there is females in the tank) :good:

Looking forward to pics :)

light has mysteriously started working again lol, will take pics tommorow

Do you have a test kit? Be prepared to do alot of water changes.

Edit- You have another tank dont you? you could transfer some filter bacteria from that filter to new one.

yeah i have used mature media, sorry no offense to you guys at all im just tired of reading and hearing about cycling lol
