i originally purches one of these(the only one in the store), and it was great on its own and even eats the frozen bloodworm that my dwarf puffers dont eat, and is happy feeding off them and then sticks to my wood for most of the day(see picture below for its party piece)

i then purchased another 3 and was led to believe they swim in shoals, but the first single Oto i purchased still wont mingle with the rest and stays completely isolated from the rest, who frequently gather together and swim together

i have another tank that i am cycling for 2 of my puffers and i think i will put it on its own in that tank with the 2 puffers as it seemed a lot more content when it was on its own with the puffers

anyone else experienced this with otos?

I don't have any otto experience, but I did a similar thing with some mollies (only vice versa, bought three, then one) and the new one refuses to school with the rest. My guess is he's just not part of the "clic" yet. give him some time and he may, if not, then he's a lone wolf...

Otos don't shoal in my experience. They do play together sometimes, but mostly graze on their own, sometimes following another around.
