Last night my oscar was freaking out and kept trying to jump out of his tank. I have the hood weighted down so that he can't escape. This morning when I went to feed him he has a big gash out of his head! He must have hit the hood really hard last night! What should I treat him with? Or should I just do some water changes and keep an eye on him?

Good idea to add some Melafix as well, it'll really help him heal quicker and stop any infections.

Oscars heal pretty fast i wouldnt worry about that, what i would worry about is why is your oscar trying to jump out? check your ammo he might be trying to get away from it.

i find melafix and pimafix to be effective meds when used together. fish seems to heal faster when i have used the two together. it is safe to mix the two meds together also.

yeah like vip said i think there should be a reason he is jumping, mine only jumps when i feed him becuase he gets excited

My ammonia and nitrite are at 0 ppm. I change 20 to 30 percent of the water every other day. He is just a wicked hyper fish, he is always trying to jump out of the tank! Right now his injury doesn't seem to bother him at all, he is still swimming fine and the wound doesn't seem to have become infected.
