Great call on the UV sterilizer, coralife makes a good unit there. The RO unit... Well, its cheap and you're gonna get diminished life and poor longterm performance out of it as a result. A good quality RO filter will come with a flush kit or flush valve to allow you to easily and quickly flush the membrane to lengthen its usable life which that filter doesn't appear to have. Don't be afraid to buy a used RO unit, as the membranes that are servicable with a flush kit can last many years with the comparative little use we aquarists put them through.

Remember, this technology was first designed to service entire wilderness households and will last multiple thousands of gallons if properly maintained. Gotta have a flush kit for proper maintenance though :good:

Edit: Also dont forget, with every RO unit, one needs to have a TDS meter (total dissolved solids) to tell when the membrane needs flushing. TDS meters are like $10-$15 off ebay :)

I have more or less the same RO unit.. and u can flush the membrane no worry.... just need 2 change the config 2 flush the unit

Oh nice, well if you can flush it, its all good :)

Kent makes a R.O. Flush Kit that I think can be used on virtually any R.O. Unit and I think its around $11 U.S
