Hi All :> Just finished setting up my new tank! (did it slowly over a week. It has a laterite base (wow expensive stuff!), lots of bog wood, fine gravel and sand, its planted, and I've just installed a bubble curtain, as the large filter doesnt provide much water movement (at least on the surface).

I removed the pad insert (as it contained activated carbon) and have replaced with ceramic media.

What do you guys think? I've already started fishless cycling, but may get one small jobby-fish to help it along....

Only problem now is, I have no idea what I want in there.....

I have malaysian trumpet snails (which I think are great) in my other tank, and would like to introduce them to this one, but, my only convern is that the new filter is open topped, and they may get in... (they did ruin my small hang on filter from another tank....)

Any input comments welcome!

Thanks!!

Nice bogwood(s) think its two piece's.

Is that a real plant in there?? If so, if you plan on adding more plants in the future its not to good to have what i think looks like an airstone in your tank as this takes the co2 which plants use out the water. If the plant is fake and you have no intention of going 'real' ignor me :good:

yes they are real plants. Unfortunately it was the bubble curtain or a power head, and as I don't want a strong flow round the tank, its the bubbles I'm afraid! I Think plants will be ok, as there arent many, and very little O2 is leached from the bubbles into the water, as the bubbles arent that small. The plants will just grow more slowly, but hopefully this will be balanced out by the CO2 from the fish. I hope :p I would add a CO2 injection kit, but I don't know much about those :> thanks for the advice!
