I was going to buy twisted vallis and java fern but the LFS did not have the valis and the java fern looked like ####.

So I bought instead a Green Hedge (Alternanthera ficoidea) and a Brazil Sword (Spathiphyllum tasson)

When I got home, I searched the forum for info on these plants and to my horror discovered that the green hedge will die....

OY! Is this a fact? maybe I have a different variety that will survive? Will my Brazil Sword be o.k.?

I also bought "Plant Gro" from the shop, I will be using it sparingly.

The only thing I can tell you is that my Mondo Grass that I bought from a reputable LFS wilted and died over about a 3 week period. It is also listed as a "nonaquatic" plant. Worst $3.99 I ever spent (on my aquarium anyway).

Good Luck.

The green hedge will definately die :(

Take it back to the lfs and ask why they are selling non-aquatic plants as aquatic plants, and remind them its against the law. :good:

So is the brazil sword not aqautic

Oh crap.

I just went back to the LFS, argued with the manager that green hedge is not aquatic ("but its seems fine here in the store"),

exchanged it for an amazon sword and now the brazil sword isn't aquatic?!!?!?!

Sheesh.

To top it off, all the LFS store had was green hedges and brazilian swords- which means they're screwing people EVERY day.

I'm going to keep it in, it has access to the surface, when I see it rotting or can get reputable plants instead, I'll take it out.

it looks fine in the store because it only stays there for short time periods, it would take several weeks or more to rot in your tank, by which time most people think that its too late to complain, or think that they did something wrong which killed it. either way the store makes its profit and thats all they care about
