My New Oscar....and Tank Mates

Picked up our "O" at the weekend........He is a few inches long....currently in a 5ft tank with 4 clown loaches, 2 silver dollars and a Synodontis Eupterus:

Mr Oscar........colours are a little washed out by the flash.....(camera is on last legs)

Awesome fish, tank, etc. The oscar has awesome coloring, especially on it's fins... update us when it gets bigger!

Beautiful Oscar you have there. Careful he/she might end up uprooting your plants you have in there.

Silver dollars eat plants... they will probably end up eating most of them.. are you going to get more sds?

The plants are in there as we had a well planted 55g where this tank was..........and it was a shame to chuck out the healthy plants......

.....if he uproots them.....so be it.....I am hoping that the plants will be well rooted before he gets too big....

..and I am waiting for the Silver Dollars to start munching the plants......... ....it shouldn't be long.......but you never know....


....the shop only had two Silver Dollars.....but I wanted the Oscar to start off with the Dollars..........getting another three when they come into the shop......

I don't know how he was fed prior to me getting him........but suffice to say......he is enjoying being with us now.........I didn't realise how wide their mouths could open....

hmmmm.
You should also consider upping the silver dollar shoal

and this will be the second tank here keeping a eruptus with an oscar. I can't wait to see the results.

Full tank shot in the Aquarium pictures section..........under "post a pic of your setup"...or something similar.....


....bit dark though.........I will try to take some better pictures.......I have now added a dark blue background across the tank....much better.


...and yes....as mentioned above........I will be getting 3 more silver dollars when my lfs has them in (hopefully this weekend).
