These are pics of my new Juwel Rio 180, we set it up 5 days ago, the water is completely clear, the bubbles are gone. Hoping to transfer the water and filter from my Roma 125 on Saturday and move the fish across.

Any comments welcome - I've not planted in substrate, just under gravel, and I'm not too bothered if they don't grow too well, but obviously I'm hoping they won't die! It's just I like live plants rather than plastic or silk.

That's a nice, natural looking aquascape - i'd personally go for a plain black background, but that's just me

I'd disagree with Million, I think your background adds depth........ :good:

Thanks, the background came with the tank so I thought I'd try it first and change if I didn't like it, but I quite like it, I agree it adds depth, and looks amazingly realistic with the plants in front of it.

i like how the colours of the plants are just the right shade too match the backround
so what are you think of stocking it with?

Just my opinion people - I like to see the planting that's IN the tank giving it depth, hard to achieve, but looks great when it's done well. Plus black really sets off the colours of the plants

We're still pondering what to stock the tank with, but currently think it'll be

pair of blue rams
10 - 12 silver tipped tetras
corys (not sure which yet)
6 dwarf neon rainbows (Melanotaenia praecox)

I would like some Gouramis, but can't make up my mind, as think maybe pearlescent or golden may be too big, but have read a lot about diseases in dwarf gouramis ... if anyone has good stock they breed with, please let me know! Also don't want to overstock, although I could cut down on the number of tetras, just fancied a large shoal this time - Ihave 6 cardinals in my 125 litre tank which are great but can imagine how fantastic a large shoal would look.

what about a nice shoal of honey gourami?

Good idea, I didn't realise they were so small. I've read up on so many fish, I'm getting them mixed up now. Are they reasonably healthy and do they need a very mature tank. This will be a new tank but with mature filter foam in the filter and 50% water from old tank. Do they get on well with silver tipped tetras, dwarf neon rainbows, corys?

Thanks for all the nice comments about the tank.

maybe wait a month until u add them
not too sure to be honest..they shouldnt have a problem.. they get on well with my redeyes and congos...and a loach so they should be fine

Thanks. Everything I've read so far about them sounds fairly straightforward. I'll have a word with my LFS if he can get them, when I'm ready.
