My New Juwel Lido 120 Tank

Yes I can confirm it is Star Grass, and may flower if the lighting is good enough! Haven't seen it for sale in the lfs since I bought it so seems it can be quite tough stuff to get your hands on. No C02 used just some decent Juwel T5 lighting and the occasional bit of plant fertiliser put in. My tank is quite low PH due to the water around here, that might have an effect on the plant growth but I'm just speculating.

Everything has shot up and I've had a small re-arrange, added some nice pebbles from the beach on holiday in Cyprus. Looking forward to putting a new photo up this evening.

Would anyone be interested in any Star Grass trimmings soon?

Looking forward to the new photo. How is the star grass planted, is it in the sand or do you have it on wood/rock etc..

Thanks

Matt

Its in the sand which is about 2-3 inches deep.

Simply awesome mate. One of my favorite tanks on here

That star grass is great! You can find it on ebay

What are the floating plants?

Sorry for all the questions, but there is a lot of things in your tank i like! lol

Thanks for the kind comments, I've taken more cuttings of Star Grass and planted them within the sand hoping they will form a "green carpet" across the bottom foreground of the tank, very ambitious lol. Time will tell whether they will take off, researching it online supposedly it works very well.

The floating plants I believe are dwarf water lettuce, link here. Again has grown very quickly, especially the roots. More durable and pleasant to look at then duck weed. Provides a nice shaded area for the Hatchets.

Updated pic showing Star Grass cuttings added to bottom left.

Stunning, love this tank!

- off to check eBay!

Edit: £6 on eBay for 5 cuttings!

Quick grower though...

Yeah stargrass can be used as a foreground plant, but looking at how fast yours grows - good luck! lol try some dwarf sag if you have no lcuk, pretty similar. Also are they Apistogramma Macmasteri?

Thanks! I'll look into the dwarf sag. They're either Apistogramma Macmasteri or Apistogramma Viejita, possibly even a cross between the two. They were sold with limited information from the lfs (although rather expensive) so I'll try and snap a couple of photos of them to help clarify. Supposedly the females are quite rare to find.

Wow your updated pic shows you've come a long way from the first. It's always relaxing to see an aquatic garden, just fills my heart with bliss.

The two marimo balls are just so adorable. Like your own widdle seemingly mobile fuzzy creatures.

Thanks, I've always had a soft spot for moss balls. Interestingly I never actually wanted a heavily planted aquarium and prefer the more rocky/woody aquascapes, however my fast growing plants changed that for me!
