About two months ago, after I added some new coral to my tank I noticed that one of my fish looked like it had been salted. I researched and found that it was probably had Ick, so I got a hospital tank and began treating him for the Ick (with Ich Attack). After about a week the white dots went away, and I returned the fish to my main tank. After a couple days I noticed that it was back, but now instead of just being on my puffer, all of my fish had little white dots on their fins. I put all the fish back in the hospital tank and started treating both tanks with Ich Attack.

After about a week, there was no improvement in the condition of the fish, so I returned all of them to main tank, thinking that maybe being in such a small tank was stressing them out, and worsening the condition. I decided that my fish were very lethargic and dying, so I decided to use copper to get rid of it. I have coral in my main tank, so I can't treat that tank with it, or they will die. I put the fish in the hospital tank with the copper. Unfortunately my puffer was just too sick at that point, and couldn't handle the copper, so I lost him.

The rest of the fish have been in the tank for two weeks, and had all the ick spots gone, but after I returned them to the main tank, they parasite returned. My question, how can I kill the ick in my main tank (with corals) without using copper or Ich Attack, becuase it obviously doesn't work. And second, how long with ick stay alive in my main tank without a host. I do have a cucumber, snails, and crabs. Can these animals also contract ick, and keep it alive in my main tank?? Or did I just not wait long enough before reintroducing the fish back into my main tank??
