USA,
So, after being away from fish for a while, I decided it was time to reintrest my self in them. I get the new TFH mag. and that amano guy has another artical, this time about wood. I love wood, It looks great, especially with plants on it. So Im going out to a graduation dinner, and the lfs in near by. I go to see if they have any wood after I eat, and they have none. So I look around the fish, and they have great angelfish on sale. So it seems like everything is going great. Well I go home and acclimate the fish, and go look at the other tank. Well something must have nibbled on the dojo loaches tail, so I put him in my tank. He seems all happy, then I notice he has all red dots on him, luckly he had didnt have any today. I notice that one of my mini angels is stuck to the filter! So I get her off and put her in the breeder. Well she died, and that suz as she was a goldish color, and my only one like that.

Today I wake up, and the dojo loach has no tail at all! I have no idea at all how that had happened. I have a few barbs, but they are nt nippy at all. My female cherry barb died, its head looked all smashed in, and there was no tank decor messed up, so I have no idea at all how that happened.

I gop out cat shopping, and find no cute kittens, but i find drift wood at one stre. Its used and broken, but beautiful, and its on sale for $20. I take it home, fdix it (it has screws in it I hope thats not bad, anyways, i test it and theres no tantin or anything. So I add it to my tank, and guess what, the whole bottem of the tank turns brown. The thing wouldnt sink, and that caused a huge proibelm, and the worst thing is the sand! After being in for 5 months, and I rinsed it before I put it in there, it is still dusty if you move it, the whole tank is cloudy and brown and nasty! I have nothing at all to clear it up.

I am nervous that it will do something to the fish. Tommoro I plan top go look at some more cats and hopefully one of the stores has something. It looks terrible!

I feel your pain. I have asulking swordy as I changed the tank to sand 2 days ago....he is eating normally just sulking. Typical swordy.

Then this morning I was watching the fish (in between putting the groceries away) and noticed that one of my sunset platies looks really thin and kinda weird. So I feed them and she eats fine (and is acting fine) and doesn't look as weird right now but I have had fish look this way before then be dead in a week :( It is probably age as I have had ehr a while but still :/ Meanwhile half the groceries are in the boot of the car, the car boot is open, I go out to finish the rest of the bringing in/unpacking and this weird guy is looking in the boot of my car. As soon as he sees me he hightails it down the street. No groceries were missing luckily.

Sorry to hear about your fish. Water changes perhaps for the brown stuff

the brown is all settled now, it was probably the sand. I had a blue plattie that got all thin, and no matter how much I feed it it still got thinner and more inwarrd.

Well I wake up today, go check the tank, and its clear, but my favorite corry is dead, and otto is missing, and my female swordtail is dead as well!
Hopefully I will be goiing back to one of the stores withthe kittens, as they had awsome fish sales.

Is your tank cycled? Are the tests okay on it?

Carol B

yeah its cycled, its over 1 year old.

anyways, my dojo is missing now, I know they burrow, but could he have burrowed under the drift wood? I dont think he'd be able to breath.

Oh well, I ll just have to buy some more fish. I will never get such a huge drfit wood with slate again.
