THe wife and I bought a new condo and one of the rules was that we have to go down to one take. So after lots of work and the rehoming of a lot of my favorite fish (BBGs, Dragon Goby, Knight Gobies, unknown green goby) we finally finished. What was left standing is:

90G tank with new glass versa top
Rena Filstar XP3
Magnum HOT w/ Bio-wheel
Turbo Twist UV sterilizer
SeaClone 100 protein skimmer (sucks)
regular lighting (to be upgraded, still researching)

Tahitian Moon black sand substrate with some live rock (going to buy more

SG 1.017

Stocking:
2 Green Scats
2 Red Scats
2 Silver Scats
2 Monos
2 Sebae Monos
2 Green Spotted Puffers
1 Green Wolf Eel -------> so cool :)

Lots of fish, but they are small for now. Have upgrade plan in mind

Here are some pics.

wow man nice fish!!!!o one of the best brackish ive ever seen, do u use the protien skimmer???

Damn, homie! Did you add all of those fish to the tank in one shot? I hope not, because if you did you're going to overload your biological filter. I love the selection of fish, but I think your GSP will be problematic, you're definetly going to need more rockwork for the green wolf eel.

You're gonna love that C. subducens... I really miss mine, but since I blame my puffer for his slow death I've decided not to get another; yours is a male if you didn't already know.

Here's a pic of my C. subducens in my brackish tank:

The specific gravity was 1.016SG when I took the photo.

no no dave, all the fish except the Wolf Eel came from an established brackish tank. I brought the filter over and then added Bio-Spira. Plus the addition of the live rock, which i am planning on getting more of.

THe GSP havent touched the GWE yet. They seem to have marked off territory but we'll see. I am planning on getting A LOT more live and regular rock. They will have plenty of hiding places.

BTW how can you tell its a male?

Oh and i am planning on hiding all the ugly crap in the back, what do people think is the best way? Blue backgroud maybe?

wow, nice tank :good: did a google on the wolf fish, I thought they would be 10 foot monsters but this site says they're good lol

Yeah, they get 18" max. Lots of people think its a Green Moray or similar and freak out about it. but these guys are ok. :)

I have a seaclone 100. it really is not all that great and i might get something better down the line

It seems that demonmagnus looked up the wrong fish. Off my coast, in California, we have a wolf eel that gets to an enormous length. Green Wolf Eels, or Congrogadus subducens, are actually a species of psuedochromis and not an actual eel. You might notice that they have a scaled body with defined gill covers and pectoral fins, something that true eels lack.

I can tell that your specimen is a male because of it's rich green coloration. Females have a pinkish-brown hue. However physical differences may not appear until they've reached sexual maturity, I'm not too sure.

I haven't decided about backgrounds. I tend to go with plain black because it's simple, but it never looks all that realistic. When water splashes between the glass and the black plastic paper, it also looks kind of rubbish with the salt or limescale marks.

I've seen some nice brackish tanks where people have used things like stacked slates and bricks at the back, actually on the wall behind the aquarium cabinet. It looks a lot like a harbour wall, which works great with brackish water fish because that's a favourite habitat!

Anyway, nice collection of fish, and the black sand looks great. Keep us posted on how the wolf eel does. I also enjoyed seeing your silver scat -- one of my all-time favourite brackish water fishes, and in my opinion, a real beauty of the hobby.

Cheers, Neale

What about the internal structured backgrounds?

Ive seen some nice plain black ones, and some stunning rock, wood and river type ones :)

:hyper: you got a puffer like mine...thought they had to be by themselves though...perhaps not I am still learning only dont tell the puffer....
