My New Betta Is Not Eating!

My new betta, Frodo is not eating, but i got him yesterday from a freshly shipped batch from petland. He swims around a bit but mostly stays on his fake plant near the surface. Is it normal for a betta to refuse to eat for a while?

Frodo is a steel blue male, and i think he is a VT and Ct mix. but I only have him in a half/ three quarter gallon tank. I want him in a bigger tank, and i might get one for my birthday.

So what do i do to get Frodo to feed. I have betta bio-gold pellets, and freeze-dried red grubs. He looks at both when i place them in his tank. but then moves away.

any ideas?

i think that he's still adjusting to his new envirnment and etc . . .

give him a little bit more time . . .

i remember when i first got my bettas DOHC & VTEC

DOHC didn't eat til 1-2 days later, but VTEC ate right away . . .

so hopefully that'll console you for a little bit

oh yea, another thing

try to convince him to eat the food like how i did with DOHC

drop a pellet in his tank, but make sure he sees it, leave it there for like 1-2 minutes, if he doesn't eat it, take it out.

repeat the process a few times and see if that does the trick.

if not, then it's just the waiting game til he gets hungry or soemthing

that's how i got DOHC to eat, and we've never looked back since

I always leave my new bettas for 48 hours and then feed them. Sometimes they have had different food and wont eat it, but usually after a couple of days are hungry.

I agree with what ^ they all said, but I wanted to give you kudos on an awesome betta name! I considered naming mine Faramir...
