tank specs?

don't they loose those markings as they get older? well that's what i thought.

:good:

Current specs are a 55g, being upgraded in 2-4 months to between 180 & 240 gallon (not sure of exact tank we will get yet), friends are 2 blue acaras, 1 thomasi, 1 JD, 1 forktailed catfish, 1 common pleco, 2 convicts, and 2 RTBS, all are slightly larger (thomasi) to 3" larger, a close watch is being kept for next few days make sure all is fine (is so far) - Please no lectures on current inhabitents, I know the temprements of all fish, all is and has been fine since every addition (I also make sure a have a suitable tank if something doesnt work)

KC

PS As to marking I was told both on here and by the LFS where I got with these type the marking stay.

PPS not all current stock will be final stock - eg thomasi

That is a beautiful fish, hope he gives you many years of entertainment!

Heh yea that's almost exactly what my little guy looked like when I got him (picture in avatar), and now he's lost almost all those markings (links to pictures in my thread What Kind Of Oscar is My Oscar). He's also gained some new ones though, those orange spots he's got. Their markings change as they grow, but they still look neat :) I heard someone say once that whatever pattern is on their head will stay when they grow, but the body pattern can change. I have know idea if that's true (mine's head didn't really have a pattern) but it could be :) Cute little guy you got there though :)

yes oscar marking does tend to change with age.You are never totally sure what you are going to get

hes a sweetie though.I just picked me up a baby, they are great

just wait until that oscar turns into a monster, i bought mine at about the same size 6 months ago, and he is now a whopping 8 inches and still growing like a weed lol. and no those markign will not stay, as he gets larger and larger his marking will change quite drmatically, mine had the same sort of markings and now he is pretty much just orange with a green/brown head, back and fins and a little brown mixed in with all the orange on his body.good luck with the little guy an i hope he brigns you lots of enjoyment.

It probably won't matter if the markings change, you'll be so attached to his personality by then you probably won't even notice :) I was hoping his swirled pattern would stay because it would look cool, but even now that his coloring is a bit dull and not at all the same, he's still by far the coolest fish I have :)

My oscar had gorgeous orange markings when I first bought him.

These have kindo' been lost :/
