Just did a water change this morning, and see a little speck swimming along... end up finding 13 'specks'. They will either be orange wag or blue coral Platys!

Yay!

New Babies!!!

 Congratulations on the fry! My fish are dropping babies faster than I can find them all! Yesterday while I was vaccuming the gravel, there was a baby guppy so I put him safely in the breeding net. Today as I was looking in the breeder net in my tank, I noticed another baby guppy swimming between the net and glass. I caught him just in time! Good luck with your fry! :fish:

Thats so cool with your babies!!

We are also expecting our first round of babies from our golden twin bar platy's (two are pregnant!) in the new fish tank soon, but worried we'll not be there at the right moment to witness the births. The first round of births which we missed or were not aware took place in the other smaller fishtank where we quarantined the platys after they got sick and to our amazement we stumbled into the three babies!!! which are now still in the smaller fish tank.

Advise - can we risk having the babies in the bigger fish tank without being eaten or harrassed by the bigger fish? (see the description below of the fish we have). Do the platys have favourite spots they drop their babies, like in between the plants, at corners etc, we have no idea what to expect:dunno:
.. help... anyone....

My females also have their favorite places to "drop". Add some live moss at the top of your tank and bottom to help protect the babies.
My advice would be to remove them(either net the fry or suck them up with a turkey baster) and put them even into a one gallon bowl($7 at walmart) temperary because fry are a delicacy to MANY fish including the parents. Believe or not those cardinals in your tank can even eat fry whole(seen all my neons and glowlights do it  ). So as soon as you see fry, scoop them out cus chances are if you go away for even 10 mins you might not have any left.
