Hello,

I have a new Axolotl which I picked up on Saturday. My tank has been running for a month, and has gone through a cycle and now has good readings.

I have done plenty of research, but I have a couple of questions.

1. How long will it take for Bob to settle in?

2. I have tried to feed him a few different things, cockles, bloodworm, and small sinking pellets, (carefully removing them if not eaten) but he doesn't seem interested? He was eating the small sinking pellets at the shop, but thats not much use with pebbles at the bottom of the tank! They dissapear! Any Ideas?

3. He occasionally swims to the surface and takes a gulp of air, but not very often, but when he swims back down, he headbutts the bottom, like he cant see it coming? (I know their eyesight can be poor?)

4. If he is unhappy, what should I look out for?

One more thing, I have noticed that on the glass there is a white floating substance....really hard to describe. Its attached to the glass, but floats. Definately white, sometimes it there, then the next day its gone??

Thanks

This might help;

If their Gills are leaning forward it means they are stressed so I suppose if their Gills are not leaning forward it means they are ok..

Funny you have called your one Bob though as the one I will be picking up tomorrow has already been named Bob :lol:
