Hello Everyone,

I have just got a new to me 55gal tank.

Its running a Fluval 304 and cycling currently.
Up till this im running a 29gal and two 10gals.

I will be combinging the two ten gallon tank's fish into the 55 which includes...

8 Neons (in one tank)
5 Albino Cory Cats (in the other)

I would like to get a few more albinos and then another type of cory cat school. And maybe a few more neons.

What do i have to work with here?
Im thinking guarmies? a few different kinds. Some type of pleco. Couple other schools of tetras.

If some people could give me a few layouts of some possible fish combos that would be great! Im just not sure how many i can really out into this tank! If anyone else can recomend another good type of community fish also that would be great too!

If your trying to keep algea under control the common pleco is a good choice. I'm not sure if your talking about gouramis when you say "guarmies" but if so then I would stick with one or two at the most. They're somewhat agressive and really should be kept with midsized semiagressive fish. Since you have a 55 gallon, if you must get a gourami, then lots of plants and rocks, and lost more plants will help neons. Much better (and still colorful) community fish would be cherry barbs, platies, mollies, swordtails, guppies and certain tetras.

no its not really for algea control, and i dont want a common (way too big) i was thinking bristle nose or rubber lipped.

If not Gouramis what else can i do? I thought about trying my luck with glass cats? Not sure if i want live bearers again... Too many babies...

Glass cats would work. They like to chill with their own kind in one section of the tank usually. If you were to get fish like these then a gourami would not be a good tankmate. If you still want to get the gourami it would be best to leave the glass cats out.

Ya common plecos get way too big for a 55 gallon. I just got 2 Rupper lipped plecos today they are cool, hanging on the glass. :) Personal preference bristlenoses or rupper-lipped would be good choices.

Yeah i might try a couple of those.

STill i need an "about estimate" of how many fish i can put in.

Give me a couple scenarios i could do with different groups of tetras/cories/maybe glass cats, plecos or whatever!

Thanx,
Wolf
