My New 30 Gallon

Thanks for all the replies, everyone!

I finally got some better pictures of my bichir, so here they are:

Could someone tell me if I have a male or female Senegal, please?
Thanks.

Here's a shot of my Senegal and Goby together:

A slightly better picture of my BN Plec. Dumb thing hides too much. . . .

My totally awesome bichir again, with my goby peeking out from behind the plant:

Would this area here be clear enough for some banjo cats? The sand is about 1.5" deep here:

Also, for final stocking I was thinking this:
  • Reedfish
  • Striped or Spotted Raphael Catfish
  • Banjo Catfish
  • Boesmani Rainbowfish
  • Maybe 1 more Senegal Bichir
I'll post more pictures when more inhabitants come to my tank!

Okay-I finally got my 30's latest inhabitant: A totally awesome Rubber Eel!!! :hyper: It cost me $30 from my LFS. Here he is still in the bag:

Here is a (unfortunetally dark picture) of him exploring the tank:

What do you think of him? His name is Bob Benny Joe Jr.

How big is your 30gallon? as Rubber eels grow to around 24", and they are great escape artists.
The will eat small fish and do have a tendancy to suck on the slime coating of bigger fish :(

Very nice fish and love the sand, how big is your birchir?Your plants look as though they are sort of dieing though :/

She's about 6" long.

Yeah, they came that way. They've gotten a lot better since I got them, when they were all nasty and brown. I'm giving them the fertilizer stuff to help them grow.

*Update*
I now have a Striped Raphael Catfish in there, and I will soon order some Banjo Cats and a Reedfish. I've read that they'd get along with other bichirs. I hope so!
---Size Chart----
*Marbled Sand Goby= Currently 9" long and 1.5" in diameter from 3" long and not even .5" in diameter when I first got him
*Senegal Bichir= 7" long, 1" in diameter from 4" long and even thinner than the goby when I first got here
*Bristlenose Plecostomus= 6" long from .5" long when I first got him
*Rubber Eel= 12" long, .5" in diameter from 11" when I first got him
*Striped Raphael Catfish= 6.5" long, 1" in diameter from 4" when I first got him
I'd have to say, the goby has grown the most. He's still got about 18" to go until he's full grown!
Sorry, no new pictures yet!
Cheers,
GobyMaster

That's a nice tank! :good:

The plant in the middle looks like some kind of aponogeton/lily.

Meet the 9" Long Bruce, the 1 Year Old Marbled Sand Goby:

Here's Bruce's Mugshot:

I call this his 'Best get outta my face before I eat you' pose. He does it quite a lot:

My parents still think he's the ugliest fish in the world, my sister's still scared of him (even though she's 16, she thinks he's going to eat her), and my girlfriend thinks he's cute. And I think he's the coolest fish around.

Serenity, my Senegal Bichir has become quite shy. Here's a picture of her hiding in the plant she likes:

Here's an above shot of her with her head hidden under the cave (I think she thinks she's an ostrich:

The tank's latest inhabitant, the Striped Raphael Catfish. This is the best picture I could get of him/her/it:
p1010764yq8.jpg

And here's a slightly blurry picture (sorry, he moved right when I took the picture) of him:

So, that's that. What do you think? Let me know,
Cheers,
GobyMaster

They all look great, the new cat has a great body shape and colouring :)

Thanks.
I never see him out in the open, though. Last time I saw him was last month.
The best part is, his hiding spot in right out in the open! He hides under the big rock that's in the front of the tank, so I can see him (or at least his head).
Cheers,
GobyMaster

I really think you should consider upgrading the tank to something like a 55g to keep them all happy for now and then bigger when they grow more (obvuously not the smaller things like the raphiel and senegal, plec etc) but the bigger things like rubber eel and goby need bigger tanks IMO.
The gobys looking great though, I have to say.
