I have 10 neon tetras inside a 10 gallon tank with some moss balls laying here and there
I just got these guys about 3 days ago, the water and everything is accurate as well.

I just noticed them "biting" each other, and when the victim is bit, it looks like its about to die, and all of a sudden its normal again and swims with the school, but this happens alot

Should I worry?
One of them looked really weak so i moved it into this small box placed inside the 10 gallon with air holes and everything

Thank you

Very odd, ive never known them to nip each other.

Are you sure your water is OK ? Have you got any readings for Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate, Plus PH ?

Is it a new tank ? How long have the fish been in the tank now ?

Did you add the tetras all at the same time or seperately?
Did you (even if they all went in at the same time) purchase fish from two seperate groups?
I'd add some more plant cover until you can get to the bottom of it....

Hello
Yes all the nitrates and such are at the accurate readings. The fish has all came from one person in one tank and I added them all in my cycled tank at the same time.

But I think I know the reason why. I left the light on all day! since 3pm! Right now its 4am.. Maybe they were cranky and were tired of the light.. because I don't see them nipping each other anymore after turning off the light

Can anyone confirm this?

Thank you!

this is really weird. its always other fishes nipping neons and not neons nipping themselves. whats your water stats?

What are your actual readings?

pH:

Ammonia:

Nitrite:

Nitrate:

How long has your tank been set up?

My little timer cocked up once and my lights were on all day and night ! But my neons / cardinals didnt nip each other no.

I think its more likely to be a water chemistry issue than lighting....or im wrong :)
