My brother's friend has a 29 gallon tank that is extremely overstocked. He has 2 bala sharks, 2 tinfoil barbs, 4 angels, 2 gouramis, and 1 black skirt tetra. I told him his tank is way overstocked but he is 13 and he thinks his tank is perfectly find  even though it is extremely obvious. These are also pretty good size fish not the small ones you see at the pet store such as the balas and tinfoil's. I can't believe they survived so long because they have like no swimming room at all, plus he has this large roman decoration in it that reduces even more swimming space. I think the only reason these fish have haven't sufficated is because he has a bubble wall. What should I do? Also I'm only 15

So.... hate to say this but...... is it worth talking to your parent(s)?? If you say that you are worried for the lives of those fish (don't be too over dramatic!!) and just explain that you know that the tank is overstocked and that you don't want to get your brother in trouble but you think they should know as he won't listen to you. Put it as simply and as nicely as possible and see what happens. Keep us informed!

Talk to them again and maybe they'll listen to reason?
Point them to this site? We'll be happy to explain things.

If they don't come around, mention it to their parents. I know that's a crappy thing to do to someone, but so is keeping those fish in a 29g...

If their parents don't care, well... you did what you could. Some people just suck. :dunno:

He sort of a spoiled brat maybe my brother can convice him to get a bigger tank. His parents just bought him an ATV and a puppy.

I'm gonna tell him about this site so hopefully he can fix his tank. It seems a lot of people overstock on bad advice from pet store chains such as PetsMart and Petco. Also Wal-Mart which should be banned from selling fish.

I think I going to a job in the fish department at my local PetsMart they have pretty clean tanks but the don't give good information. I was also wondering about the training they give on fish?
